How to Contribute

If you've found the Handbook useful and feel you have something to contribute we'd love you to get involved.  So far there are four ways you can do this.  In each case please respond via the contact form.

1. Suggest a topic for a future article

If you have suggestions for future articles let us know about them with as much detail as you can manage.  This might include information about relevant projects and possible authors.  If the possible author is you see below.

2. Submit a comment and/or recommendation.

If you have some additional information relating to one of the existing chapters or articles you can submit a comment which will be considered for publication. Please note that here we are looking for more substantial submissions than option 1, which supplement and add value to the existing material.  This might be a description of relevant work that you are involved in which gives readers further insight in to the subject area.  One or two good quality images can be included.

3. Submit a proposal

If you have an idea for a full article and believe you're the best person to write it then send us a proposal outline.  Full articles should take a broader view of the subject area, rather than focusing on a personal project, and should build on the existing Handbook content.  If we feel the suggested article would be appropriate we'll let you know and send you the full guidelines for authors.  We're afraid that we have a limited budget to support new articles and we already have a schedule of those we wish to commission, so we probably won't be in a position to offer payment for unsolicited articles.  The Handbook does though, offer the opportunity for your writing to reach a very wide audience and you have the satisfaction of helping what we believe is genuinely helpful resource for artists.

4. Ways to become a writer

folly plan to commission further articles.  If you would like to be considered as an author then you are welcome to send us information about your areas of interest and expertise, as well as examples of your previous writing in the field.  Please make it clear how you feel your experience fits in with the shape and direction of the Handbook.

Thank you for taking the time to consider how you might be able to contribute to the project.  The contact form is here.

Please note that folly reserve the right to edit submissions and to take the final decision about what to publish.
